Sakudumbam Shyamala is a Malayalam flim starring Urvasi, Kuchacko Boban, and Bhama in the main roles. Saikumar, Nedumudi Venu, Lalu Alex and Suraj Venjaramoodu are the others in the cast.Urvasi does the title role as Shyamala. The film is a family entertainer with importance to comedy as well.

For all those who are addicted to the silly comedy shows that are churned out aplenty in the various TV channels, well, here is something to cheer about. Debutant director Radhakrishnan Mangalath has made one of those mushy dramas for the big screen and has called it Sakudumbam Shyamala!With every trick that is used to make serials tick, there is loud comedy, melodrama, song n dance routines and sentiments to make things look attractive. But what lacking here is a credible storyline and basic commonsense. But then, the makers of the film have not planned to take things so seriously.

Shyamala (Uvarshi) starts her day by dumping daily trash and wastes into the territory of her neighbour, the District Collector Shekharans (Nedumudi Venu) house. Shekharan is still in enmity with sister Shyamala for eloping with Vasudevan (Saikumar), who is also a subordinate officer of Shekharan. Shyamalas biggest dream is to import an Amercian Malayali girl as the bride for their only son Akash (Kunchako Boban), an editor in a news channel , thereby avenging her lost status and recognition among relatives and the society.

One day, Shyamala accidentally gets involved in a police baton charge in front of the secretariat, which she utilizes as a weapon to tarnish the image of Shekharan and very soon she turns a media celebrated figure. Inorder to exploit that popularity, she is appointed as a candidate for the forthcoming by-election and surprisingly she wins and becomes Revenue Minister to the state!! Everything is predictable right from the first shot and we dont need any extra brains to predict what all commotions could take place when a daft and uneducated person turns minister .

Akash has an affair with Nandana (Bhama), a reporter from the same channel and daughter of a retired comrade (Balachandran Chullikad). And in the mean time, he falls into a situation where he is forced to take her along thereby crumbling the dreams and ambitions of Shyamala. Will Shyamala accept her? Kunchako Boban and Bhama are totally wasted with least screen space, dialogues and situations.Kunchacko Boban and Bhama have to play the romantic pair and look pretty, which they do in a fine way. All others including Nedumudi Venu, Jagadeesh, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Balachandran Chullikad, Geetha Vijayan were all good in their own roles. There is a surprise song featuring Urvashi, Saikumar, Kunchako Boban, Nedumudi Venu and Jagadeesh.
