Kochi,Tuesday,02 March 2010: The Railway’s Ernakulam Marshalling Yard situated in the heart of the city, has become a threat for the place. The people around this area is facing the adverse effects of the yard since it is the place where washing of the train engines take place.

The water resources near-by are getting contaminated which further leads to the destruction of crops. This marshaling yard which constitutes a 450 acres of land was commissioned in 1966.

It has now become a long term demand of the people of this area to shift this marshalling yard to some area between FACT and Cochin Refineries.

So that this land could be used for some other industrial purpose. For this moves have been made from years. Complaints had been given to Corporation,State as well all Central ministers which bought them no justice.
