The Chennai city theatrical rights of Vikram-Shriya starrer Kanthasamy, directed by Susiganesan has been sold for a record Rs 4.01 crore. The rights of the film has been purchased by Abirami Ramanathan from producer Kalaipuli.S Thanu. It is the biggest ever deal done for CC rights in the last one year.
In 2007 June Abirami Ramanathan purchased Rajinikanth’s Sivaji, CC rights for a record Rs 6 crore and created a new benchmark for Tamil film distribution rights.
Abirami Ramanathan told ” I think Kanthasamy is going to be an entertainment extravaganza, and definitely the big summer release. It is a good buy and I’am very bullish about the film.”
The film Kandasamy is simultaneously being shot in Tamil and Telugu. With actress Shreya acting opposite Vikram, the movie has been titled Mallanna in Telugu. Vikram is apparently playing a kleptomaniac in the film, due to which he undergoes some problems. Veterans Thotta Tharani, A. S. Laxmi Narayanan and Vairamuthu, winners of nine National Film Awards between them, take care of the art direction, audiography and lyrics respectively.
The film is likely to release April last week or May first week, depending on the parliament elections which are due in April. The entire shoot of this action adventure is complete and the film is in the post production stages.
