Renowned classical musician Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna will appear on the Tamil screen after a long hiatus in a movie titled ‘Kadhai’ (meaning story). The highlight is that he plays himself in the movie, directed by television actor-turned-director Abhishek.
The 79-year-old veteran was so impressed with the story and the role narrated by Abhishek; he immediately agreed to appear on screen.
Balamuralikrishna had played legendary Narada in several films, where he used to sing his own songs. He had also composed music for many movies. ‘Kadhai’ will have him singing the classical number ‘Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai’ (written by Bharathiyar). The movie will mark the entry of composer Paul J into Tamil films. The music composer has also planned to rope in the likes of Malgudi Subha, Mukhtiyar Ali and others to sing the songs in the movie.
So, one can expect ‘Kadhai’ to be a classical musical bonanza.
