“Actually, I never had any intention of acting in Tamil movies. But the story of ‘Valmiki’ and the technicians associated with it impressed me so much that I accepted the role” says Meera. She now has plenty of offers coming her way from both languages. Meera, who likes to stick to a demure image on screen, says she is not comfortable wearing revealing clothes.

‘I was told that in Tamil if you have to stay afloat, glamour is a must,’ she said. ‘I am here to do a handful of good films and not get attention by exposing my body. The first thing I asked director Ananthanarayanan was about my costumes. I come from a conservative family and glamour is a strict ‘no’ for me’.
