Urumi bags Kariat award for best film

Urumi, directed by Santosh Sivan, has bagged the Ramu Kariat best film award instituted as part of the Nattika beach festival.

Announcing the awards here, Siddique, noted film director and chairman of the award jury, said that Prithviraj and Kavya Madhavan have won the best actor and actress awards.

Other winners include Chappa Kurishu (best second film); Salt and Pepper (best popular film); Renjith (best director - Indian Rupee); Anoop Menon (best script writer – Beautiful); Manoj K. Jayan (best character actor – Vellaripravinte Changathi); Jayaprada (best character actress – Pranayam); Suraj Venjaramoodu (best comedian – various films); Asif Ali (best young actor - Salt and Pepper, Sevens); Ananya (best young actress – Seniors, Doctor Love); Amir Niyaz – Sevens (best debut actor); Bhavika – Bombay March 12 (best debut actress); Ajayan Vincent (best cameraman - Sevens); Ranjan Abraham (best editor – Manikyakallu); Engadiyoor Chandrasekharan (best lyricist - Urumi, Theluthale Poomanapanthalil); Ratheesh Vega (best music director – Beautiful, Mazhanir Thullikal); Kabeer (best singer – Vellaripravinte Changathi, Pathinezhin); Manjari (best singer-female, Urumi, Chinni Chinni); Narein (best South Indian artiste); and Kunchako Boban (best popular actor).
