Venu Nagavalli Passes Away

Veteran Actor, Writer and Director Venu Nagavalli passed away due to liver related problems in the early hours of Thursday morning at the KIMS hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He was 61. His wife Meera and son Vivek were beside him at that time.

Venu is the son of the renowned writer Nagavally R.S. Kurup. Following his father he began his career with AIR as an announcer and then entered cinema as an actor then graduated to be a writer-director.

Venu has acted in around 50 films and directed a dozen of Malayalam movies besides scripting many hit films. His last film as an actor was Sathyan Anthikad’s ‘Bhagyadevatha’.

His notable films list includes films like Ulkkadal, Shalini Ente Kootukari, Chillu, Omanathinkal, Lekhayude Maranam Oru Flash Back, Meena Masathile Sooryan, Arante Mulla Kochu Mulla, Adaminte Variyellu and Vartha.

He debuted as a director with the super hit film ‘Sukhamo Devi’ in 1986. His major directorial ventures include Lal Salam, Ayirappara, Raktha Sakshikal Sindabad. He turned script writer in Shankaran Nair’s Ee Ganam Marakkumo. His expertise in scripting can be seen in films like Kilukkam, Artham, Aham, Bharya Swantham Suhurthu and Sukhamo Devi.
