Chris Gayle hit an unbeaten 70 off 44 balls to power Bangalore Royal Challengers to a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals.
Chasing 147 for victory, Bangalore cruised to victory with three overs left as Tillakaratne Dilshan (38 off 24 balls) and Virat Kohli (39 not out off 34) hung around with the
former West Indies captain.
The victory also came on the back of a superb performance from Bangalore paceman Sreenath Aravind, who picked up three wickets to restrict Rajasthan to a below par total.
Batting first after losing the toss, Rajasthan were in fact off to a blazing start as Shane Watson and Rahul Dravid made merry of a lacklustre Bangalore attack.
The duo put on 73 in less than 10 overs, but a double strike from Aravind pegged Rajasthan back. Watson holed out to AB de Villiers at long-off after a 29-ball 34 while Dravid fell two balls later to a return catch from the left-hand paceman.
Ajinkya Rahane, Johan Botha and Ross Taylor all got the starts but could not carry on as Bangalore bowlers tightened the screws in the latter half.
Rajasthan lost three wickets in the last five overs which also hampered their scoring. The hosts eventually finished at 146 for six.
Openers Gayle and Dilshan made light of the chase blasting 66 off six overs, but Bangalore soon suffered a jolt when Shane Warne dismissed Dilshan (38) in the next over.
That was the only moment of glory for the bowling side as Gayle along with stand-in captain Virat Kohli, then switched gears in a bid to hasten victory.
Gayle brought up his half-century off 33 balls with a six and with victory in sight the Caribbean blasted a flurry of big shots - including his 30th six in the ongoing IPL.
Bangalore eventually overhauled the target in 17 overs, but Rajasthan captain Warne had to end his last IPL match at home on a sad note.
