Kolkata defeated Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets. Skipper Ganguly top-scored the innings with 75*.
Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders rung in the changes for a game neither team can afford to lose. Rajasthan, who opted to bat, altered their batting order. They replaced opener Michael Lumb with Australian Aaron Finch and roped in left-handed batsman Faiz Fazal for Amit Paunikar. In the middle order, they preferred Paras Dogra over Abhishek Jhunjhunwala.
Kolkata, currently placed seventh in the points table, recalled Shane Bond and left out David Hussey in an effort to bolster their bowling which was toothless against the Chennai Super Kings. They are also boosted by the return of Murali Kartik, who replaced Iqbal Abdulla. Medium pacer Jaidev Unadkat has been drafted in for Ajit Agarkar while wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has been dropped to accommodate Cheteshwar Pujara. Brendon McCullum will take over keeping duties.
