Don’t skip your breakfast.

breakfast

A great day should start the right way – with a healthy breakfast. It is fine to wake up and have a cup of tea/coffee/wheat grass juice/warm water-with-lemon-and-honey, but you need to reinforce this with a substantial and nutrient-packed breakfast to keep you fighting fit throughout the day.

Skipping breakfast is a crime on your body – it can lead to fatigue, mid-morning hunger pangs, unhealthy snacking and weight gain. The body feels tired, often causing mood swings, irritability or fainting. There may even be long-term health risks, like heart attacks. People who eat little or nothing at morning suffer from more cholesterol and coronary problems.

The smart thing to do is to have breakfast like a king. Balance your breakfast – have proteins (egg-whites/yogurt/skimmed milk/low fat meat/beans), vitamins (fruits and nuts), carbs and fiber (oats/muesli/multigrain bread) in the right proportions. A little olive oil or butter/margarine adds to the taste, but don’t just pile on the fats. Skip processed stuff like white bread or biscuits. Sugary and deep-fried food is also a no-no. Consult dieticians or nutrition-charts to plan a proper breakfast –it’s the best investment you can make for your body.

Eat substantial portions. A wholesome and filling breakfast everyday helps to

•    Keep your energy-levels up
•    Boost metabolism and prevent weight-gain
•    Reduce risk of heart attacks
•    Protect your over-all health
•    Lift your mood
•    Regulate bowel movements
•    Improve your and your children’s memory and immunity.

Breakfast does not have to be boring or bland. Choose from a variety of healthy and tasty options to give yourself and your children a kick-start to a great day. Make your first meal of the day something to look forward to. Have a different breakfast every day of the week. Just remember to make it protein-rich, high-fiber and low in fat. Make healthy breakfast a lifetime habit as it’s the best way to say “Good Morning” to your self
