12 villages flooded due to rising Ganga river  

Garhmukteshwar, Friday, September 10, 2010: About 12 villages and vast agricultural lands have been inundated due to rising water level in the river Ganga even as a fresh flood alert has been issued by the district administration.

About 2.62 lakh cusec water has been discharged from Haridwar and Bijnore barrage following which 12 villages, including Lathira Kakamodh, Ganga Nagar, have been flooded.

District administration is keeping a close watch on the situation, Sub-Divisional Magistrate S K Maurya said.

The local villagers have been warned about the flood situation, he said, adding administration is providing all possible help to them.
