Kochi, Monday 27 July 2009: The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate will consider the charge sheet filed by CBI against three accused Father Thomas Kottoor, Father Thomas Poothrikkayil and Sister Sephy — under section 302 (murder), section 201 (destruction of evidence) and 499 (defamation) today.
Court was examining the chargesheet and the evidences submitted by CBI for one week.
Court will also consider the plea of Abhaya’s father today.
All the three were arrested on November 19 last year in the case that shocked Kerala after the 21-year-old sister was found dead in a well in St Pius convent in Kottayam on 27 March, 1992.
According to the CBI chargesheet, investigation revealed that the chappals and veil of the victim had been found scattered in the kitchen and wash area on the Cellar Floor of the Convent.
The Court will examine whether prima facie charges exist against the accused. If the Court accepts the charge sheet it would send summons to the accused.
Meanwhile, the High Court will consider a petition filed by father Thomas M Kottoor appealing for relaxation on bail conditions today.
