Abhaya: Narco CDs tampered confirms C-DIT

Kochi, Saturday, June 20, 2009: The mystery behind the murder of Sister Abhaya is getting murkier and murkier, the scientific experts from C-DIT who were authorized to inspect the CDs has found that the discs were tampered and edited with the help of computer.

The verification of the compact discs containing the results of the narco analysis test conducted on the accused in the Sister Abhaya death case at the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT) in Thiruvananthapuram following direction from Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.

The court handed over the CDs to the CBI and directed that the verification of the authenticity of the CDs should be conducted in the presence of the Advocate Commissioner appointed by the court.
However, the report will be submitted before Court on Monday.

The CBI had earlier accused, the Forensic Science Laboratory, Bangalore of tampering with the CD, which documented the narco-analysis tests conducted on suspects in connection with the Sister Abhaya Murder Case.

CBI Counsel M V S Namboodiri had also demanded an investigation into the role of Assistant Director of FSL, Dr S Malini, in the incident. In the report filed by investigating officer A K Aggarwal, the CBI had maintained the stand that it had received only one CD from FSL against the lab’s claim that it had sent three CDs to the investigating agency
