Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday, November 12, 2008: In a gentle tone, but in the most effective way, Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan in his reply to those who dubbed him as an “outdated saint” said, “I accept my age and I am outdated, the ideologies I believe, are from 1848 Communist Manifesto and I am proud to embody those Marxist ideologies that I believe are relevant for future,”.
I acknowledge the comments made against me VS Achuthanandan said.
Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan added that, even when Karl Marx was alive petty bourgeo snobs had resisted the Marxian ideologies.
Earlier, Noted Malayalam writer M Mukundan had called Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan as an “outdated saint” in an interview to a Malayalam literary magazine, and said, CPI (M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan would be more capable of expediting development of the state.
However, M Mukundan later denied the allegations.

The CPM in Kerala is a divided house, not due to any ideological differances. VS became the CM at the behest of the CPM PB and sequel to an outcry from the cadres. The Kerala party leadership ensured that VS does not get the leeway to function as an effective and assertive head of the Ministry. Time and again, we saw the spectacle of his loyalists being purged through out the state. Leftist writers, journalists and neo-intellectuals were made use in castigating him at regular intervals. His above response is just meek and modest, as he is bereft of the old revolutionary stamina to retaliate.
Outdated yes.but calling him a saint is far from true. The so called clean image needs to be verified. The corrupt prcatices continue under this saint also. The internal squabbles within party has ensured an impasse which ensures nothing good happens to Kerala nad Keralites.
Viva Vs 1 Viva Pinarayi!Viva Opposoition
