New Delhi, Sunday 30 November 2008: BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani and party chief Rajnath Singh skipped the all-party meeting convened by the Prime Minister on Sunday to discuss the terror attacks in Mumbai, as they were campaigning for the assembly polls in Rajasthan.
Expressing his inability to attend the meeting, Advani called up the Prime Minister to say he was busy campaigning in Rajasthan and would meet him on the issue soon after returning to Delhi, BJP sources said.
BJP’s Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha V K Malhotra and Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha Jaswant Singh represented the party at the meeting.
“Their programme was fixed much earlier and could not be cancelled,” Malhotra said when asked why Advani and Rajnath Singh did not attend the important meeting.
Advani told Singh that BJP would stand with the government in any tough decision it takes for effectively tackling terrorism, the sources said.
Both Advani and Rajnath Singh have accused the government of being “soft” on terror.
Malhotra attacked the government even while going for the meeting, saying such a meeting was being held for the first time in five years of its tenure. “This meeting should have been convened much before.”

The present PM is doing what any politician would do - form a committee to put off any quick decisions.
The Opposition is engaging in oneupmanship.
The Congress under Sonia will not do anything to upset the “minority” who are slowly and steadily becoming a majority.
Due to the upcoming elections, S.Patil has been presented to the public as the sacrificial goat. No doubt, he will be rewarded later for his martyrdom.
Presenting an image of “nice guy” to the world, is only going to invite more visits from troublemakers.
I wonder why Sonia did not allow our near invisible President to return to the country when it was in such a turmoil for three days?
Whatever it may be - things should be back to normal after two months - everyone would have forgotten the “incident” and the people who had sacrificed their lives knowingly or unknowingly.
JAI HIND.
Shame Mr. Advani , if u give more importance to a state winning than the nations security. Sure, we the Indians will tear off the dress that u hope to wear on next PM’s ship
Shame on u LK Advani,
That will clear indication of what is imporatant for you. you are just dreaming of becoming PM. All other things are secondary to you. Even the national security.
