E Ahmed flays VS for his controversial statement

New Delhi, Monday, 26 July 2010: Union minister and IUML leader E Ahmed today said he was “ashamed” of Kerala for indulging in “harmful propaganda” against the Muslim community.

“I don’t know why the Chief Minister is sharing the view of people having nefarious designs against my community….I am ashamed of a Chief Minister who is indulging in harmful propaganda and campaign. I don’t know his political agenda, but Muslims will reject it,” he told reporters outside Parliament House.

Ahmed was reacting to the statement of the 86-year-old CPI(M) leader that Popular Front of India (PFI), whose activists were accused of chopping off the hand of a college lecturer, was indulging in communal and divisive activities with the aim of turning Kerala into a Muslim majority state.

The Minister said the Muslim community in Kerala was “forward looking” and was against extremism.
