Alappuzha, Sunday, February 5, 2012: The second edition of the highly successful international coir festival was inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at Alappuzha on Saturday.

Inaugurating the Coir festival, Chandy said that the tourists should be attracted to the State using the facilities of the coir industry and also arrangements should be made for them to watch the process of producing coir.

As the event had been named, would be an exhibition cum sale event divided widely on four themes, which would be knowledge dissemination and interaction, development, marketing and coir. There would be separate international and national pavilions.
