Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday 16 March 2011: Kerala Chief Minister and CPM stalwart V S Achuthanandan will not be fielded by the Left party for the April 13 Assembly polls in the state, according to CPM state secretariat today.
CPM sources said the state secretariat, which met here with party General Secretary Prakash Karat in attendance, did not favour 87-year-old Achuthanandan’s candidature. The secretariat decision would be presented to the state committee meeting in the evening after which a formal announcement is expected.
The question over fielding Achuthanandan — a four-time MLA — again to lead ruling CPM LDF has been dominating the political discourse in the state for the last few weeks. The CPM’s Central leadership had referred the matter back to the state unit for a decision on fielding the veteran leader.
Home Minister and Politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan would lead the LDF. Kodiyeri would be contesting from the Thalassery constituency in Kannur. CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan would not contest the elections as expected and would continue as the state secretary.
In 2006, Achuthanandan was denied a party ticket but following a huge public outcry, the national leadership had to reverse its decision. He led the Left Front’s poll campaign and went on to become the chief minister.

LDF is not an one-man-show. There are lot of good leaders in CPM. If the State Committee select Mr. Kodiyeri to lead the front then there is no wrong in their decision. Let Mr. Kodiyeri lead the next government in Kerala, for that we can cast our votes on 13th April, 2011.
It clearly shows how Hypocrital the CPI(M) party is. How can they believe that a party is above the masses of the country.India is a democartic country and the soul power lies in the hands of the people, and that no one can deny it. so its the power of the people to make or break a party. But our left front party, seems to be ignorant of this fact. May be its time for them to go back to school and study history!!!!!!. How will they be able to serve people when they cannot come out of “party image”. The message is clear — they don’t want to win this assembly election. Otherwise such injustice would not have been meted out to V.S.Achutanantan. He is one of the few leader to whom a lay man can connect and non of the politicaly parties can deny that. The aura of V.S is above the party, and by not giving him a seat to contest, the party has cut its own legs. the CPI(M) has become a party full of corrupiton, with top most leaders supporting the cause for corruption. How Hyppocritical. Let me remind you that people are no fool. the party feel that if not this time, but definitely after 5 years they will come to power. how sad if they think so. coz even then we will have Pinrai Vijayan, Prakash Karat, and other promient corruption full of learders. But one thing will never ever change, their love and affection and their appreciation to all the work done by V.S.
What happened CPM under the leadership of prakash karat and pinarayi vijayan? It is total failure and decaying of party.
Evolvement of communism to beurshoism is the resutl of their leadership.
Prakash karat looks like a toy in the hands of pinarayi coccus.Shamefull and pathetic to see the dying situation of CPM.
