Thiruvananthapuram, Monday, 12 July 2010: Electricity Minister A.K Balan today asserted in the assembly that the State wouldn’t step back from the proposed hydroelectric project at Athirapally. Minister made it clear that discord of any of his colleagues in the Ministry regarding the implementation of the project would not be relevant.
A.K Balan standing firm on his stance said that the much-awaited project that was welcomed by the two Ministries (LDF and former UDF) had also got consent from Forest, Environment Ministries. He said this while replying to G. Karthikeyan’s (Congress) submission on the project.
Minister Balan also assured that there wouldn’t be any crisis this year if there were sufficient rain and the availability of allotted share from the Central pool. By the distribution of CFL bulbs in the State 230 mega watt of power could be saved, he added
