Athirapally project based on expert report: Minister   Athirapally

Thrissur, Monday, January 24, 2011: Minister of State for Power KC Venugopal today said that the Central Government would decide on the Athirapally project based on the expert panel report. He was speaking to the mediapersons in Thrissur.

“There is no doubt that Athirapally project should be implemented, if it is beneficial. Scientific studies are essential for the purpose, Venugopal said.

A panel has been constituted. Let the report come out. Development cannot be done by forcing projects on the people”, the Union Minister said.

Venugopal informed that domestic gas would be used in Kayamkulam power project, instead of Naphtha. Now the production cost comes nearly 10 rupees per unit. This can be reduced to half by using domestic gas, he added.
