Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday, January 12, 2011: The cabinet meeting held today has decided to hike the auto- taxi fares in the State. The minimum charge for auto rickshaw has been revised to Rs 12 and the minimum charge for taxi to Rs 60.

The revised auto- taxi fares would be come to effect from today midnight onwards. The decision came after the submission of the interim report by the Justice M Ramachandran Committee to Minister Jose Thettayil. The auto charge for 1 km would also be hiked from 6 to 7 Rs while the taxi charge would be hiked from Rs 7 to 8.
