Wayanad, Wednesday 23 February 2011: Education Minister M.A. Baby has said that the B.Ed. centres in Kerala will be upgraded as centres of excellence soon.

Baby said the B.Ed. centres would be upgraded as centres of excellence to meet the possible dearth of teachers when the Right to Education Act would be implemented in the State.

The Tribal Research Centre at Chethalayam in the district would be upgraded as a tribal university. The government had reserved 80 per cent of seats for the tribal people at Kalan Memorial College, Mananthavady, to meet the aim. The government was trying to upgrade all the high schools to higher secondary schools, he said.
