New Delhi, Tuesday, February 16, 2010: Criticising the Centre’s decision to export 10,000 tonnes of sugar to the European Union, BJP today said such an action by the government at a time when sugar prices have sky-rocketed, shows complete lack of coordination among its departments.
“The government’s decision to export 10,000 tonnes of sugar to the EU at a time when its prices have gone up by 58.96 per cent in a year, shows complete lack of coordination among its departments. The left hand does not seem to know what the right hand is doing,” BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters here.
The government had yesterday allowed export of 10,000 tonnes of sugar to the EU for the fiscal 2009-10. Rudy said while food inflation is 19 per cent, the overall inflation is at a 13-month high of 8.5 per cent.
