Kochi, Wednesday, April 20, 2011: BJP state vice-president and party candidate from Thiruvananthapuram assembly constituency, advocate BK Sekhar who died at a private hospital here, will be cremated on Thursday, party sources said. Sekhar’s body will be kept at the BJP state committee office at Mararji Bhavan for public to pay homage from morning 10 am to 12 and will be cremated at 2.00 pm at Thiruvananthapuram.
Several political leaders including Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan, Opposition leader Oommen Chandy, KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala, BJP leaders- MT Ramesh and O Rajagopal expressed grief over the demise of B K Sekhar.
Sekhar(51 years) was admitted to the Amrita Hospital in Kochi when his condition turned worse during electioneering. He was undergoing treatment for gallbladder cancer.
He leaves behind his wife Shyama and daughter Gowri Kalyani. He had served as Yuva Morcha state vice president, general secretary, BJP Thiruvananthapuram district president, state media cell convenor and party state spokesperson.
His contributions to the social and cultural fields are lauded.
