Blast rocks German embassy in Kabul  

Kabul, Saturday, January 17, 2009: A bomb attack has hit the German Embassy in Kabul and the embassy has caught fire after the explosion. At least four US troops have been wounded.

According to eyewitness accounts, several vehicles have been destroyed in the blast. Emergency vehicles raced to the embassy and firefighters are attempting to extinguish the flames.

The German Embassy sits across the street from a US base in Kabul. US spokesman Lt Col Chris Kubik says four U.S. service members have suffered shrapnel wounds from the blast.
