Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday, February 02, 2010: Rescue and fire force services recovered two more body from the debris in Thampanoor today taking the death toll to five so far.
The dead body of Assam native Sumant Das and Maniyan a native of Neyyatinkara was found today afternoon.
A case has been registered against the lodge owner under various criminal provisions including homicide, they said.
Fire, police and army personnel are still engaged in rescue operations.
The deceased were labourers engaged in reconstruction of the lodge, which was built more than 50 years ago.
Meanwhile, Kerala chief minister VS Achuthanandan told reporters after the cabinet meeting that the government had ordered a probe into the collapse.
A solatium of Rs2 lakh each would be paid to families of three persons who were killed in yesterday’s mishap and Rs25,000 to those injured, the chief minister said.
The probe would be headed by TK Jose, managing director of the state Bridges and Road Corporation and he has been asked to submit his report within two weeks, Achuthanandan said.
