Thiruvananthapuram, Saturday, October 11, 2008: Mayadevi is all the way from Bihar with her four year old son and five days old baby girl. Undeterred by the hassle and buzzle around her she is busy engaged in work and all the while its her four year old son who is taking care of his baby sister, and as one can see she is not complaining. Rather she seems to enjoy her brother’s company.

If one finds these visuals heart wrenching then you got to understand that it’s a normal site in Indian streets. According to Mayadevi, she left her husband’s home after the torture from her husband became intolerable. She has three more children who are now with her husband, she further says that she was here in the capital to meet Chief Minister and submit her grievances. It was the commuters at the railway Station in Thampanoor who swung in to action and informed Thampanoor police station who came and took all three to police station promising to put them at any shelter home in the city. But after taking statements from Mayadevi the police is said to have send he back to Malappuram.
