While Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that the State government will appoint a special investigating team to investigate the sensational Kozhikode ice-cream parlour case. Kodiyeri, who is in New Delhi to attend chief ministers meet on security measures, told reporters that the decision of the judiciary against a CBI probe on the matter was not based on pure legal terms.
Kodiyeri pointed out Justice Narayana Kurup himself has stated the decision was taken considering the alleged involvement of a reputed personality like Kunhalikutty in the case.
“The words of the justice who handled the case itself proves the decision was taken considering a personality and hence lacks legal stability†- said the home minister. He added the purpose of the probe is to ensure none of the guilty escapes from the rule of the law.
The new police team has been appointed following the revelations of KA Rauf in the case. The Kozhikode Town Police had registered a case in the wake of the media reports on the revelations of Rauf.
