Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday 18 August 2010: The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to sanction 1599 posts of teachers in the aided colleges of the State. It also decided to create necessary posts for the Kerala Consumer Price Index Revision Committee set up for revision of the index with base as 2009-10.
Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan told the media after the Cabinet meeting that the Committee would undertake a family budget survey towards revising the index. The Cabinet had decided to increase the authorised capital of Kerala State Financial Enterprises from Rs. 25 crore to Rs. 50 crore.
The Thandan community of Palakkad and Thrissur district would be included in the ‘Other Backward Classes’ list for reservation and other benefits. The Chief Minister said that the workers of Alappuzha port, holding government tokens, would be given Rs. 4000 each as Onam festival allowance.
(They are without jobs, as the port is not functioning). Proportional increased in Onam allowance would be allowed for workers of Neendakara port also. About 100 poor families living in the Kannur cantonment would be given Onam allowance of Rs. 1000 each. Steps would also be taken for issue of ration cards to them.
Achuthanandan announced 57 new posts of junior instructors would be created in the Industrial Training Centres selected for implementation of quality improvement project. Additional posts (15 each) would be created at the Government hospital at Palode in Nedumangad taluk and the nursing colleges in Alappuzha and Thrissur.
