Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday, February 17, 2010: The state cabinet today decided to constitute the ninth Pay Commission for State government employees and teachers. Justice Rajendra Babu would be the chairman of the commission.
The term of the commission would be six months. Pay revision, matters relating to pension amount, promotion and other allowances will be some of the major agenda in the terms and reference of the commission, informed Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan after the cabinet meet.
A 30-member Commission secretariat would also be constituted, Achuthanandan said. Economist at the Centre of Development Studies P Mohanan Pilla and Advocate P Venugopalan Nair are the other members of the commission.
There are about 4.5 lakh government employees and teachers in the state and their pay scales were last revised in early 2006.
Tourist Resort Kerala would be separated from Kerala Tourism Development Corporation and would be instated as a different company known as Kerala Tourism Infrastructure and Investment Limited Company.
Family of deceased noted lyricist Gireesh Puthanchery would be given Rs 5 lakh and noted music composer MG Radhakrishnan who is undergoing treatment in hospital has been allotted Rs 1 lakh.
