Cabinet shelves talk on SNC; decides to woo Tecom

Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday, June 17, 2009: Shelving discussion on the much embarrassing SNC Lavalin issue and the Governor’s decision to prosecute CPM State Secretary in the scam, said the issue did not come up for discussion as no one raised the issue the Cabinet, instead the cabinet has decided to shift its focus on the issues pending with Tecom and sort out things with the Tecom authorities. Chief Minister said, the doubts raised by the company regarding the stance of Government on the issue will be removed.

The Cabinet has also decided to provide financial assistance to those injured in the Cheriyathura police firing. Nizamuddin and Shamsuddin will be given Rs 5 and 3 lakhs
Twenty families who have suffered material loss during the incident will be give 22 lakhs. The decision was taken on the basis of collector’s report.

To give subsidy to products which are sold through Teeramaitree super market rupees two crore has been allocated.

Chief Minister also condemned the torching of newspaper bundles in Thalassery early on Tuesday morning. 15,000 copies of the newspaper were destroyed in the incident.
