Thiruvananthapuram, Friday 23 April 2010: Brazilian environmentalist and photographer Conceicao B. Praun has said that it is the responsibility of every person to tackle the “ugly reality” called global warming, She was addressing a press conference here called to introduce ‘Wake Up Call,’ a 50-minute documentary on global warming that she had directed. The documentary was shot on locations in Thiruvananthapuram.

Preparatory to directing the documentary, Praun spoke to academics, environmentalists and scientists here on global warming and what the government and the people were doing about it.

Often people were not aware that they themselves were the creators of the problem called global warming. Many people also had this attitude that it was somebody else’s responsibility to tackle global warming, she said.

However, the cast and crew of the documentary told her that Thiruvananthapuram had become hotter over the years and that this summer was the city’s hottest year, she said. Kerala is very green. The question is how long is this going to last? she asked.

The documentary seeks to give the message ‘Be Responsible, Save Our Planet,’ she added.
