CAPS seminar: Regional security challenges discussed

Thiruvananthapuram, Monday, March 22, 2010:A seminar on ‘Strategic aerospace and maritime capabilities in the regional scenario’ was conducted here today at HQ Southern Air Command, Akkulam. Senior officers of the Defence services participated in the seminar. The one-day seminar was conducted under the aegis of Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS), New Delhi.

The aim of the seminar was to arrive at workable solutions to the challenges in the regional context. Many prominent Airforce Personnel carried out the presentation. Notable amongst the speakers were Air Marshal S Mukerji, Air Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command; Vice Admiral KN Sushil, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command; Air Marshal PK Mehra (Retd.); Air Vice Marshal Kapil Kak (Retd.) and DIG BK Loshali of the Indian Coast Guard.

The panelists discussed various aspects on the emerging security environment and strategic aerospace and maritime capabilities of the armed forces as well as issues on coastal security..
