Kochi, Saturday, January 31, 2009: Dr Uma Dattan, the medical –legal advisor of police at the time when Abhaya was killed, is been interrogated at the CBI headquarters today.
Earlier, there were allegations that Dr Uma Dattan had destroyed major evidences related to the murder of Sister Abhaya, which could have been a major breakthrough in cracking the case.
According to the report submitted by Dr Uma Dattan Abhaya had committed suicide but the report was flayed by experts from Hyderabad Medical College, which was led by Dr Bhaskar.
CBI expects to unearth more information from Dr Uma Dattan, which could help the agency to throw light on the sixteen-year-old murder mystery.
Earlier, CBI had asked sanction from state government to prosecute Dr Uma Dattan in connection with the destroying evidence related to the murder of Abkari contractor Munna.
Sister Abhaya was found dead in the well of pious X convent in Kottayam on March 27 1992.
Local police and crime branch has written off the case saying it was a suicide.
