Kochi, Friday, January 29, 2010: A CBI team led by DYSP Nandakumar Nair on Thursday took over the investigation into Paul Muthoot murder case from Special Investigation Team of the Kerala police, which had probed the case earlier.
The team, arrived in Alappuzha yesterday and the SIT handed over the case diary and other files related to the investigation to the CBI officials.
On January 21 the Kerala High Court had directed the state police to handover the probe to the central investigative agency.
A division bench comprising former Chief Justice SR Bannurmatt and Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan had directed the CBI to complete the investigation with in six months.
The Court directive came on the basis of a petition filed by Paul’s father MG George seeking a CBI probe into the case.
