New Delhi, Tuesday, June 02, 2009: Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today assured full help to prevent the outbreak of fever in Alappuzha. He said the Central government is ready to send an expert team to the state and after receiving intimation from state government the center can provide more aid to help prevent outbreak of the fever.
Ghulam Nabi Azad said, certain long time measures are needed to prevent the outbreak of diseases in this region. He was speaking to media after holding talks with Kodikunnil Suresh and KC Venugopal.
The waterlogged region had reported nine cases of cholera. The increasing cholera reportage has pointed an accusing finger once again at the public water supply system in the region. Though water-logged, drinking water has been a major dilemma for residents here, with the lake and river water hardly fit for consumption, due to salinity.
