Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday, August 25, 2011: The Oommen Chandy government has completed 100 uneasy days in office as it earned more brickbats than bouquets with the opposition raising several allegations including CM’s alleged involvement in Palmolein case.
UDF Government had launched 100-day programme focusing on issues that required immediate attention in the short term, with each administrative departments being asked to come up with proposals to be implemented.
With transparency as its trademark declaration, the UDF government had received a standing ovation to some extend, but has scored negative points more after the government faced severe criticism in connection with the enactment of finance appropriation bill without majority.
To ensure transparency, the first thing Chandy had highlighted was declaration of the assets of himself and his Cabinet colleagues along with the bureaucrats, department heads, Advocate General and the personnel staff of the Ministers, but it has remained just a promise.
Chandy himself had to hand over charge of Vigilance Department portfolio to his close associate and Revenue Minister Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan in connection with the palmolein import scam in 1992.
