Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday 18 May 2011: Congress veteran Oommen Chandy was today sworn in as the 21st Chief Minister of Kerala along with six ministers. The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Governor R S Gavai at a function held at the Raj Bhavan at 2 pm.
After Chandy was sworn in, then it was the turn of P K Kunhalikutty followed by K M Mani, K P Mohanan, T M Jacob, K B Ganesh Kumar and Shibu Baby John. The Congress Legislature Party unanimously elected Chandy as its leader on Sunday after Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Ramesh Chennithala opted out of the race.
Former chief minister V S Achuthanandan and many others were present at the function. The UDF won by 72 seats, while the CPI (M)-led LDF bagged 68 seats.
