Chennithala to contest Assembly polls  

New Delhi, Tuesday, March 08, 2011: The (KPCC) President Ramesh Chennithala would contest in the upcoming Assembly elections in the State. The Congress top brass has given a green signal to Chennithala for contesting in the elections on April 13th.

Although no official intimation regarding this has been received, hints are that Chennithala would be fielded in any of the constituencies in the state capital so that he can co-ordinate the party campaign process.

KPCC Chief had arrived in New Delhi for talks with the regarding the selection process. Chennithala had met Sonia Gandhi, AICC president and Madhusoodhan Mistri, AICC general secretary in-charge of Kerala affairs.

The seat sharing for the Assembly polls will be solved amicably, said KPCC chief Talking to reporters after holding discussions with on seat sharing, Chennithala said the first phase of bilateral talks were held with the coalition partners and after the second round of talks, it can be solved cordially.

He said there is nothing wrong on coalition partners demanding more seats. When asked in how many seats the party will be contesting, he said even though they get 140 seats, it won’t be enough.

Chenntithala said, “There many leaders in the state to lead the UDF. The party is keen in giving priority to youngsters and new faces. In the history of Kerala, youngsters were not given so much importance. Everybody has the right to lodge complaints.”
