Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday, November 17, 2009: KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala today openly attacked the recent remarks made by Mullappally Ramachandran Union Minister of State for Home Affairs who strongly backed the re-entry of K Muralidharan in to Congress. He also criticized those who ad openly challenged the decisions of KPCC.
Ramesh Chennithala added that, Congress is not a regional party and those who have grievances regarding any decision can approach AICC.
Ramesh Chennithala was speaking at the inaugural meting of the KPCC working committee.
Taking a dig at senior leader and Union Minister Mullappally Ramachandran Ramesh Chennithala said some leaders are resorting to publicly ridiculing party decisions through media. Mullappally Ramachandran had said that, Muralidharan was not an untouchable to the party and the Congress is a great democratic party, so anyone who is desirous to return should be given the nod.
The KPCC is once again compelled to discuss the issue as the recent developments had upset the party leadership in the state, particularly KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala.
AICC general secretary in charge of Kerala affairs Mohsina Kidwai has agreed to meet Muraleedharan. Following this some leaders have come out in support of the demand to reconsider the decision on Muraleedharan.
Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy has already opined that any decision on Muraleedharan should be taken by the party high command. A.K.Antony is keeping a studied silence on this issue, which many leaders view as a silent support for his re-entry.
Mullappally Ramachandran has also come out in the open stating that Muraleedharan alone cannot be kept out of the party when all others who are seeking a re-entry are given a smooth entry.
