Thiruvananthapuram, Sunday, 20 June 2010: State Election Commission in a press release made it clear that allegations against the commission regarding local body polls are baseless. The press release had been issued in reply to allegations raised by KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala.

The report regarding division of wards had been handed over to the Secretaries of local bodies for further scrutinizing, says the press release.

KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala told that the LDF government was trying to ’sabotage’ the local body elections scheduled to be held in September with the help of the state Election Commission. Chennithala complained that the state Election Commission was helping the government for implementing its hidden agenda.

Chennithala added that the Election Commission had declined to call an all-party meeting to discuss poll-related issues despite requests from several political parties including the Congress.
