Kollam, Monday 23 November 2009: The two-day 17th State-level Children’s Science Congress will begin at the Jawahar Bal Bhavan here today.
“Planet Earth - Our Home, Care and Share’’ is the theme of the Congress this year. Participants will present papers on sub-themes such as atmosphere, energy, tectonic plates, biosphere, hydrosphere and man’s influence on environment.
Select papers from districtlevel science congresses will be presented at the statelevel event. Teachers and students from 38 education districts in the State will participate in the Congress.
As many as 16 projects will be selected for the National Children’s Science Congress to be held at Gujarat Science City from December 27 to 31. Cash prizes and grace marks will be awarded to students for SSLC and plus-II examinations.
The best two projects will be selected for the Indian Science Congress to be held in Thiruvananthapuram in January, 2010.
Labour Minister P K Gurudasan will inaugurate the State Children’s Science Congress on November 23 at a function to be presided over by District Collector A Shajahan.
Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment vice-president E P Yesodharan will inaugurate the valedictory function to be presided over by DPI Mohammed Hanish.
