One cholera case reported from Kannur  

Kannur, Friday, July 08, 2011: In addition to the recent outbreak of cholera in Wayanad, another person from Kannur was also confirmed with cholera on Friday. The person identified as Mohanan hailing from Tamil Nadu has been admitted to the Pariyaram .

According to reporters, several persons are under treatment in Wayanad district with symptoms of cholera. The official reports reveal that the patients who have been admitted in the hospital from 13 colonies in the district were suffering from cholera.

The condition of five persons who are under treatment at Kozhikode with symptoms of cholera is reported to be critical. It was confirmed after a medical test at the Kozhikode that the patients were suffering from cholera, Neetha Vijayan, , said.

Around seven persons have succumbed to the disease. Preventive measures, including chlorination of drinking water every three days, had been taken in tribal colonies in the area.
