New Delhi, Friday 23 July 2010: KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala, and Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy would call on AICC president Sonia Gandhi today. Both the leaders reached New Delhi on Thursday and had discussions with Union Minister AK Antony.
The leaders are expected to place before Ms Gandhi, the request to postpone the organizational elections in the state. The KPCC had on Thursday took such a decision.
The KPCC feels that holding of the organizational elections as per schedule would adversely effect the party’s performance during the upcoming local body elections.
Both Chennithala and Chandy would be informing the AICC president that elections till the block level has been completed devoid of any complaints. Difference of opinion persists regarding DCC and KPCC elections and this would de-rail the hopes for the local body elections.
Sonia Gandhi is expected to pass on certain instructions for the peaceful conduct of the organizational elections, particularly on the complaints made by senior leader K Karunakaran.
Peethambara Kurup MP has already handed over a letter to AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi containing the worries of Karunakaran.
