Thiruvananthapuram, Sunday 18 April 2010: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishanan stated that the Chief Minister had consulted him before suspending Kannur range IG Tomin J Thachankary.

Kodiyeri Balakrishanan added that Thachankary had violated service rules while going on a 11-day gulf trip without informing the government. The DGP has clearly pointed out the violation in his report.

Chief secretary Neela Gangadharan had on Saturday evening issued an order suspending Tomin Thachankary from service. The move came after the CM summoned the chief secretary to his office and directed her to issue an order.

Kodiyeri Balakrishanan was away from the capital and had commented earlier from Kasargod that departmental action would be taken, if needed according to the report filed by DGP and ADGP.
