Kozhikode, Monday, 18 may 2010: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan on Monday has laid the foundation stone for a government Cyber Park at Nellikkode here. Achuthanandan also launched the project of another cyber park being set up by the Vadakara-based Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) on the adjoining campus here on the occasion.
Achuthanandan, who termed the project as “a long cherished dream of the people of North Kerala,” said work on two other cyber parks in Kannur and Kasaragod would start next week. The Chief Minister, who expressed hope that the Cyber Park here would act as an entry point of major Information Technology investments to north Kerala, said many major IT companies, including Nest and Leela, had evinced interest in setting up their firms at the park. Claiming that Kerala was making some big leaps in the IT infrastructure development front in the last few years Achuthanandan said the number of IT parks in the State had increased form four to 10 in the last four years.
Industries Minister Elamaram Karim presided over the function. He praised the people in the area who had to give their land for the project. Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran laid the foundation stone for the first IT building of the Cyber Park on the occasion.
