CM promises strict action against ‘moral policing’  

Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday, June 22, 2011: Taking a serious view of the assault of a woman professional of Cochin , Oommen Chandy today said police had been instructed to take steps to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

“Director General of Police Jacob Punnose has also been asked to look into the complaint that there was failure on the part of police to take action on the incident immediately,” he told reporters during the cabinet briefing here.

“The Government would not allow such incidents to happen in the state and will view very seriously such attacks against women,” Chandy said.

The 30-year-old woman professional of CSEZ was assaulted by an autoricksaw driver after she protested some lewd comments reportedly made by him and two others while having tea at a roadside shop after her duty hours on Sunday night.
