Kottayam, Saturday, 19 June 2010: Education commission would today collect evidence from CMS College, here, where an agitation by SFI turned violent on Wednesday. Dispute on the same were continuing as the management reiterated their stance that they wouldn’t allow the re-admission of a student for which the agitation had been organized.
The Kerala High Court had earlier opined that the attack on CMS College is condemnable. The court made this observation while considering a plea submitted by the college principal. The Court had also ordered that police protection must be given to the CMS College and its employees.

An agitation by the SFI turned violent on Wednesday with agitating students with help from outside, attacked the college office and caused destruction to documents and furniture.
The nearly two-centuries-old ornamental railings of the building were damaged in the attack. College authorities said the institution was under police protection but the police acted only after the students caused damages.
While the students who marched to the main gate of the college were fended off by the police, most of them jumped the compound wall to get on the campus and entered the nearly two-centuries-old main office building, causing damages.
The students owing allegiance to the SFI were on a strike for more than a month seeking re-admission of one of their colleagues suspended by the college authorities. For the past two days, they had stepped up their agitation and there were minor violence on Tuesday, which prompted the college authorities to seek police protection.
On Thursday, tension prevailed for a brief period when a few SFI activists tried to disrupt the interaction between the UDF delegation, which visited the campus, and the college authorities.
