Thiruvananthapuram, Sunday, June 13, 2010: Manoharan, an apparently distressed Gulf returnee who was arrested by the police for disrupting a meeting attended by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan at Co-bank Towers here on Thursday evening has apologised for his actions. Manoharan added that he had not tried to harm the CM by doing so.
The DGO had ordered an inquiry into the security breach, Hemachandran, IG Thiruvananthapuram region had been asked to look into the matter. Assitant Commissioner of Police Gopakumar was shifted from the post after the departmental enquiry conducted by IG Hemachandran indicted the AC in the incident involving in Chief minister V.S Achuthanandan’s security breach.
ACP Gopakumar was not present at the spot when the incident occurred, the enquiry observed that this was a security breach and took action against him. Gopakumar has been transferred as special branch Dy SP, and Krishnan Nair will take over as the new cantonment AC.

Manoharan, a native of Kollam and currently Thiruvananthapuram resident, shouted slogans as Chief Minister stepped on stage to inaugurate the State government-sponsored membership drive for setting up a Non-Resident Keralite Welfare Fund.
The police immediately detained Manoharan and removed him from the venue. The police questioned Manoharan in detail at the Museum police station. Later, Manoharan told the police that he was incarcerated for eight months in a debtor’s jail in the Gulf after a relative of his “cheated” him of Rs.1.2 crore. He lost his livelihood and was being plagued by litigations.
The police said Manoharan did not pose a physical threat to the Chief Minister at any point of time.
