Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday 23 March 2010: The Opposition moved a notice for an adjournment motion in the Assembly to discuss the Idukki land case. Though the Speaker granted permission to discuss the issue, the women members of the ruling front created a ruckus and the assembly proceedings was stopped.
The women members alleged that K Sivadasan Nair, who had issued a notice for an adjournment motion, Nair in his speech compared Munnar to that of raped woman, had inulted the women members and to protest against that the ruling front women MLAs shouted slogans.
Nair refused to tender an apology, following which the women trooped to the well of the house shouting slogans against him. Though the Speaker assured to look into removing the controversial statement, this failed to pacify the women.
Finally the Speaker announced a temporary adjournment.
